Best thing Karl has ever done?

Let's settle this once and for all.

Obviously XFM. I have thoroughly enjoyed his books though. The podcasts are good but they almost seem forced. The XFM stuff is so real and raw and i think that's why it's so good. In the podcasts it's just a constant barrage of insults at Karl and it just isn't as funny. AIA is good, the first series better than the second, though.

It was a bit of a toss up between the two because I did really love AIA...

But, there is just so much more, so many layers, with the XFM shows, they were always going to win. I love the early ones - the first few Rockbusters, White Van Karl, when he hadn't been called a moron or a div to the point that he was still prepared to speak his mind, no matter how much ridiculous stuff came out of it. He was such an organic character and I think he lost a little bit of that natural-ness in some of his later work.

It's like when you find a long-lost city or something, and when you find it it's all overgrown with weeds and you're like wow, this hasn't been touched for years... and then everyone and their nan turns up to take photos and clears it up and it's busy and noisy and never as good again.

Sorry Karl.

Highly enjoyed everything on the list, but XFM wins for being the one which I've returned to time and time again without getting sick of it.

Think he did a very good job in his first real acting role (Derek) too
If I was listening to me on the radio, I wouldn't be able to say, "oh, he's a...", ya know? And slag me off an' that, 'cause I don't know what I look like, and I quite like that.

It's probably cos he doesn't make any money out of Xfm. Like a band from the 70s who don't want you to buy their old stuff cos the record company gets all the royalties.

In fairness to Karl, he wasn't referring to fan forums as Ricky implied. From what he said on Richard Bacons chat thing, he means people just walking up to him and saying it.

Still, I voted XFM, because it was the best thing he's done. No doubt. He came up with competitions that defy all logic, put some fantastic stories out there for us to hear and was generally a likeable, if grumpy bloke.
