Searching fruitlessly so far - can anyone point me to the show where they're talking about novelty tourist breast postcards and Ricky says something like, 'If you pull out it shows a needle sticking out of her arm,' and Steve says, 'Now THAT would be an accurate representation of London!'

Cheers.

Which episode is it where Karl talks about how he'd have preferred Churchill to have been a bit rougher and Ricky says in a gruff voice "See me down Brighton" or something along those lines?

For some reason, I'm thinking this is the May 10, 2003 show (the one where they interview Chris Martin from Coldplay) and they talk about the nudie pens. Now, it's not in our transcript so I can't be sure (and I haven't listened to check), BUT...in the transcript there's this quote from Steve:

"we've had an email from Jim, he says, on the subject of the postcards, his brother once met the bloke who posed for the photo on those biros that when you tip them up, the black ink kind of sinks away and it shows him nude."

So that's my best guess for now. I'll let you know if I can confirm/deny!

Yeah, I thought it had to be this one as well but I didn't actually listen to it because I assumed it would be in the transcript, and checking the transcript it wasn't there. I'm listening to it again now and there doesn't appear to be any mention. I wonder whether I originally heard a different cut of the show, perhaps with the music in, and when the music was cut out it took this part with it? (The part I'm remembering definitely lead into a record.) But it seems odd that it shouldn't exist any more. And I can't be the only one who remembers it.

The mention of the postcards does come up out of nowhere to be fair. In the show Ricky says 'We've done "Ooh! Look At Those Funny Postcard Breasts!"' but they actually haven't. There has to be a link missing entirely. How frustrating. That's one of my favourite bits.

In which show did Karl stumble on his words? He does that all the time, but there's one instance where he reads something out loud and has to retry saying it more than two times, I think. Of course Ricky and Steve find it hilarious.

Thanks!

One of my favourites.

"Ages ago .... only people with money had drinkin' or something"

...but as 36 Levi's said, it sounds like he means "miminalistic", which was in one of the podcasts
If I was listening to me on the radio, I wouldn't be able to say, "oh, he's a...", ya know? And slag me off an' that, 'cause I don't know what I look like, and I quite like that.

I was watching the Ricky Gervais HBO "Wartime" animated episode recently and heard material that I was unfamiliar with (a rare treat) and was wondering where it came from. It was a discussion with Karl about the phrase "keeping the home fires burning" wherein Karl says that were he at war he would not to receive a letter about how warm and comfortable his family back home was.

Which show was that in? I have listened to the xfm shows and podcasts interminably and this conversation does not ring a bell. Is my brain going cold?
