I'll be watching Slash on the second stage at Download, seen Prodigy live a few times before in the past, they're good live but I'm not a fan of much of their post-Fat of the Land stuff so not too fussed with watching them again. Slash with Myles Kennedy on the other hand is awesome, basically Guns 'n' Roses but better (than the current incarnation of G'n'R). I'll probably catch the end of the Prodigy's set as the main stage always finishes later.

Download Festival bands I'm looking forward to, presuming they don't clash with each other (which some definitely will);

Black Sabbath
Metallica
Megadeth
Saxon
Ghost
Anthrax
Tenacious D
Slash
Anti-Nowhere League
Europe
Soundgarden
Opeth
Firewind
Steel Panther

My Download Festival Review

NOFX - good fun, love that band
Billy Talent - never been a huge fan, but enjoyed them
Machine Head - Eugh, hate this band now. Didn't like them at all
Chase and Status - I don't know about electronic music. This seemed alright
Trivium - Expected to hate them like I did Machine Head, but was kind of impressed
Steel Panther - SO MUCH FUN. Didn't expect to have so much fun watching them
Tenacious D - SO MUCH FUN. I did expect to have so much fun.
Biffy Clyro - Bit lacklustre. Love them, but most of the audience were just waiting for Metallica.
Metallica - Loved the start and end, played some awesome songs. I don't like The Black Album though, which they played in full, so I went off and got food for that bit. But one of my favourite live bands.
Ugly Kid Joe - meh
Shinedown - I don't know who this is but I didn't enjoy them.
Refused - AHHHH never thought I'd get the chance to see them. They were amazing.
Soundgarden - Exceeded my expectations, really enjoyed them
Black Sabbath - ZOMG SABBATH!!! Was awesome.

I saw Hugh last friday (a dream!) he sang a tango.

Such an awesome man.

Didn't you watch any of the headliners on Friday night, Foodage?

I watched Slash with Myles Kennedy on the second stage, was awesome - Great mix of new stuff and classic GnR/Velvet Revolver songs, makes me wonder why anybody would ever bother go see the current incarnation of Axl's Guns n Roses when they could see Slash and Myles Kennedy play the songs better.

I watched about 10 minutes from the back, but I was seriously fucking miserable that day cos I was cold, wet and tired. So after ages of trying to decide whether to watch Slash or Prodigy I ended up watching neither. But I remember Slash being great 2 years ago.

Saw Justin Townes Earle last night.
Was amazing. Boy is a fucking boss with that little black Loar of his. And his voice has really come along summit. Think he's hitting his heights on all fronts now.
When his 2 man band left him to go solo for a few songs, his fingers posessed greater showmanship than some entire bands. They move so unaturally fast at times. He's such a fucking good player. Was talking with him after, and i genuinly dont think he knows what a gifted guitarist he is.
Actually, he probably does.
Anyway, yeh. Was amazing.

Not from last night.

It's criminal really that I've not actually listened to Justin Townes Earle yet, given that I'm a huge fan of his dads (and have got his namesake as my avatar), aside from a duet that he did with Steve of Mr Mudd and Mr Gold a few years back.

In fact, I might just finally get round to it now.

He takes every oppourtunity in public, and in song, to give Steve a bit of a kicking, which must be awkward when they see each other. Though i imagine Steve doesn't/can't have too many complaints bout that.
Someone shouted out a Steve song title last night (couldnt tell which one) and Justin said 'You got the wrong Earle, he don't play my songs and i sure as hell don't play his. I'd rather play a Paul Westerberg song' and then launched into his Can't Hardly Wait cover.
Was a quality way to get into a song, but i was stood there thinking 'i've seen you play Tom Ames' Prayer before though. LIAR'.

That band Fun is coming to town. My girlfriend wanted to go but it is like $120.00/ticket. Fuck that. They don't deserve those kind of prices.

Haha, I'd seen that before, but not with the "2012" updated version.

It's annoyingly accurate, sick of people waving their camera phones and stuff about when I'm trying to watch a gig. Just enjoy it now and watch someone else's crappy video on Youtube later when you get home if you're that bothered.

I got invited to the afterparty for the Regina Folk Fest (most of the music isn't even folk anymore), so of course I went.

It was fucking mental. Awesome preformances by Shad and Rich Aucoin. Rich probably puts on one of the best shows I've ever seen. Shad was pretty sweet too.
