Are the band actually having sex with the women in that video? Something about that is really tragic. Never was a big Rammstein fan. They're rumoured for Download Fest.

I've not looked into it but I'm assuming their heads have been CGI'd into the video. Wouldn't put it past them though, crazy Germans..

They've been rumoured for Download festival practically every year since the festival started, but as they're actually touring the UK next year for the first time in ages I wouldn't be totally surprised if they do play either Download or Sonisphere. I've never been a big fan of their music but I've heard good things about their live show so I definitely want to see them play live some time. (I was gonna get tickets for their upcoming tour, but the sold out within a couple of hours, and also the tickets were over £40.. Screw paying that much for a band I'm only mildly interested in)

Muse - The Resistance (2009)
Image
Over-hyped, flamboyant to the point of absurdity, but that's the point of these guys I guess. The conspiracy theorists 5th album is a major step backwards after the moderately engaging Black Holes and Revelations. Sure the 3 Part Exogenesis aims for the epic, but barely hits the epicness of previous tracks like Blackout. Uprising is a solid single, nothing spectacular, just like the album.

K'naan - Troubadour

If you prefer your rappers to be saying something that doesn't involve guns, hoes, rims, then this might be for you. It's a great album from start to finish. At least six songs that would make great singles; ABC's, Wavin' Flag, Take a Minute being among the best. If you're a fan of Lupe Fiasco, Louis Logic, Roots Manuva, Souls of Mischief, then this could be for you. Very socially aware, and lyrically at the top of his game.

Raw Power

Image

Only listened to it twice, but I can see it becoming one of my favourite albums. It rawwwwwks.

"I'm a street walking cheetah with a heart full of napalm
I'm a runaway son of the nuclear A-bomb
I am a world's forgotten boy, The one who searches and destroys"

Although it was only released in 1973 this has a definite punk feel about it. Thrashy and raw.

Them Crooked Vultues

First time I've given it a proper listen. Could be the next Queens of the Stone Age record. Luckily I love QOTSA so it's all good. Cool riffs and the usual swagger from Josh Homme. My favourite record of the year.

radio 1 live lounge 4

i really liked the 3rd one, couldn't really get into this one, maybe cause i don't listen to that much recent music anymore. couple of decent tracks on there though, i quite liked katy perry's 'electric feel' rendition.

i love the song tik tok, catchy fun lyrics with a simple beat behind it. the whole album is pretty much the same thing.

Vampire Weekend - Contra

This is their sophomore album. Went from afro-beats to more west coast sounds with the marimba and other tropical beats. I think they've grown for the better. White Sky is upbeat, Cousins is dance-y, Taxi Cab is the heartfelt song. Diplomat's Son and I Think UR A Contra are definitely the songs that put this album above expectations.

Hey, SW, why didn't they have a photo of you on the cover instead of some nobody?
Lacking in ability to find comic surrealism or absurdity in the mundane, with weak and forced observations. Covers taboo topics however like using the word Spastic, a child licking her vagina and using the swear word 'Cunt'. Ricky Gervais would be a fan.

Nah, they'd have to pay me to be on the cover. That picture is apparently license-free.

Wolfmother - Cosmic Egg (2009)
Pretty alright, hard rocking beats that shine of Sabbath and Zep influence. If you want to take elements for rock icons, there the best to take from. More slow and easy paced songs like Caroline and Violence in the Sun provide a nice come down from bangers like the title track, Sundial and New Moon Rising.

Obviously a lot of buzz around here about this lot, so I gave em a try. Good good sound. Some nice fun beats. But I don't think I'd listen to any more of their work, unless I heard their next album was a huge departure from the first. It felt like the same song ten times. That's not to say they're not good, they are! But just not great.

Up - Soundtrack

When you watch a Pixar movie, you will notice the music and it will leave an impression. And when you listen back to the soundtrack, you'll be able to place all the little bits of music to the corresponding bits of the film. All the little emotions of the film come out in the music, and the sounds are as enjoyable to listen to as the movie is to watch.

Sarah Mclachlan - Surfacing
Image
This seems to get better every time I listen to it. Every song just has so much soul. The sound is a bit samey, but there is some degree of variety there. It's not all the same stuff. Her voice is amazing to boot. Some sort of country enfused ballads on there too, which is a little different.
