Come Around Sundown (Kings of Leon) - 7/10

S'alright. Still not back to their best, but they've put the awful pop-shite of the last album behind them and there's echoes of their former glory. Mary is a brilliant track.

Without You I'm Nothing (Placebo) - 8/10

Good stuff. Another one of their albums that flows effortlessly from track to track.

The Joshua Tree (U2) - 8/10

Only really just started to listen to old U2. I enjoyed this. A lot of good songs there to take home.
"Do you want a sandwich? Here's a sandwich". And then next year "Can I have a sandwich?" "What happened to your brother?" "He died."

I'd have said higher, since she's my future bff, but good rating. You can't deny the addictiveness of surf rock and Beach Boys-like melodies and drums.

Angus and Julia Stone - Down The Way - Absolutely delightful, the mellowness of the album is a joy. Simple yet elegant. 9/10
Rick - "No, no, come on Steve, you're making this a mockery, so the budgie was depressed cos he could sense the ghost."

What are some of your favorite albums of 2010?

we have a thread on another board and I just worked out my top 10. yours doesn't have to be a list per se, just what you vibed to the most this year. (I realize M&S was released in 2009 in the UK but it wasn't released here until this year)

just for fun I've made each selection a link to a Youtube of a favorite or exemplary track off the album.

10. Broken Bells - Broken Bells
09. Surfer Blood - Astro Coast
08. Gayngs - Relayted
07. Futurebirds - Hampton's Lullaby
06. Electric President - The Violent Blue
05. Fang Island - Fang Island
04. Phosphorescent - Here's To Taking It Easy
03. Wolf Parade - Expo 86
02. The National - High Violet
01. Mumford & Sons - Sigh No More

rounding out my top 20...
Junip - Fields
Tame Impala - Innerspeaker

The Dead Weather - Sea Of Cowards
Woods - At Echo Lake
I'll be, uhh, I'll be 30 next month...this month, no, next month..where are we?

I think I only listened to 6 new albums this year... slow year.
Here's how I'd order them though:

6. Omar Rodriguez Lopez Quartet - Sepulcros De Miel
5. Weezer - Hurley
4. Jack Johnson - To The Sea
3. Ratatat - LP4
2. Omar Rodriguez Lopez & John Frusciante - Omar Rodriguez Lopez & John Frusciante
1. The Black Keys - Brothers
I think the mailman thinks me dumb.

1. Fozzy - Chasing The Grail
2. Professor Green - Alive Til I'm Dead

Pretty sure they're genuinely the only two 2010 albums I've heard. Fozzy is awesome, Green isn't.

I pretty much agree with all of the ones VT posted (The National, Broken Bells, Electric President, Mumford & Sons, Surfer Blood, Beach House, Deerhunter, New Pornographers, Tallest Man on Earth), and would just like to add a few more to his list.

LCD Soundsystem - This Is Happening
Vampire Weekend - Contra
Arcade Fire - The Suburbs
Best Coast - Crazy for You
Wavves - King of the Beach
Girl Talk - All Day
Janelle Monáe - The ArchAndroid

The Strange Boys - Be Brave
The King Khan & BBQ Show - Invisible Girl
The Drums - The Drums
No great life story, or love interest, just a dead egg.

I'm bein a pernickety dick here but Munford & Sons was 2009 really wasnt it. Most of them songs even predate 2009.
Anyway, strongly agree with Arcade Fire, The National and Titus Andronicus. And agree with Broken Bells, Girl Talk, The Black Keys and Vampire Weekend.
Then i'd add Antony & The Johnsons, Rufus Wainwright, Jonsi, Grinderman, She & Him, The Hold Steady, Josh Ritter, Laura Marling, Ryan Adams & The Cardinals, Kanye West and M.I.A.
Eclectic really.
Except to the eye of love sir, one Aberdeen Terrier is much like another.

Oh eff, forgot about the new Laura Marling, Titus Andronicus, Ra Ra Riot and Bombay Bicycle Club. All awesome. Kanye is in a league of his own. I didn't think the She & Him album was as good as Volume One, but that's just me. Haven't heard the Black Keyes album, but saw them live last night and was like :O awesome
