I don't think you got the memo. Derek. by virtue of not being quite as shit as LTS, is a brilliant bit of work that in no way relies on cheap directorial trickery to make hackneyed 'emotional' scenes.

He/She is allowed to dislike Derek as much as they want. I may not agree with them much like everyone else, but to suggest that they should like Derek because everyone else decided it's not shit like LTS is idiotic
