Ricky Gervais
“@carterartist: excellent fan page. I think you've deconstructed them perfectly.” Cheers. My mate's a uni prof studying "fans". Fascinating.

I dont know much about Brittish universities, but can you study a "bachelor of fans"
I'll always play Boogie Woogie over everything

^ I'm confused ... was this a joke post?
If I was listening to me on the radio, I wouldn't be able to say, "oh, he's a...", ya know? And slag me off an' that, 'cause I don't know what I look like, and I quite like that.

You can study a degree in David Beckham in some places...
I don't think the study of fandoms and the psychology behind ''fans'' is that abstract of a thing to look into on an educational level.

Well sure, you could do a research degree on celebrities and their followers, or even an undergraduate degree on popular culture or something related ... but needless to say there's never been anything called a Bachelor of Fans

I know I haven't been around much lately but I had to come back after I saw the recent blog post. I used to be Ricky's biggest apologist on here back in the Ghost Town days. But not long after that even I reached a breaking point where I couldn't defend his actions. I wish I could say this latest criticism surprised me, but it doesn't at all. I will defend this place now with more fervor than I ever defended Ricky. Press on, Pilkipedia. We don't do it for him, after all, this place is for us.
Here is my blog.
Here is my podcast.

I think Ricky shortened it down, because of the character limit and that.

*uber-sighs*

Well I guess there's no question now as to whether he was talking about pilkipedia.

I just had a thought; Karl isn't on Twitter is he? So how do we even know the stuff he said about Karl calling him up and supposedly saying we don't like anything but the XFM shows is true? To be honest I wouldn't have thought Karl would particularly care one way or the other; let alone enough to call Ricky specifically to complain. What if Ricky made it up to hide the fact that he's BLATENTLY reading the forum?

To be honest I feel slightly guilty because I was a big part of the LTS bashing crowd. I didn't like it, it was the first thing Smervais have done that I really haven't liked, but I generally thought I could pretty much speak my mind because its not like a multi-millionaire actor/writer/comedian would bother to look up opinions about his work from nobodies on a fansite.

It's not something you think of when you're voicing your thoughts, is it?

^ Ya, I was referring to Jools Holland's post. Though maybe he wasn't asking if there is literally a degree with that title.

Anyway, the number of posts on this topic has far exceeded the worthwhile number!

Wouldn't have thought so before but since copying the layout of pilkipedia for his "satire" on fans I suspect the Karl thing was made up. His quote about "I used to love Ricky Gervais but he ruined Extras for me" is made up too I bet. Sounds like a reworking of Ned Flanders "I like Woody Allen's films apart from that nervous fella who's always in them". Just another attempt to show how ridiculous all fans' opinions are. Unless of course they're fawning (albeit semi literate) on twitter. Similarly critics' opinions are worthless because they haven't written their own sitcom. Unless of course they're handing out awards to his projects. Sick of it.

Even though I don't post here too much and mainly just come here to greedily watch bits and pieces that other have kindly posted, that is what I was thinking to the tee, good stuff.

Also I find it funny that Ricky's last few posts in his HILARIOUS forum satire were strange, paranoid things like "Definitely, everything he's ever done is shit. That first thing he did was a fluke". C'mon i've never ever seen that, 99.9% of people here love The Office. Talking out of his arse.

Yeah exactly, it's ramblings like that picture that reflect what's going on inside his own noggin, rather than what's happening with his fans/critics at the minute.

Bit of an over-reaction, ain't it?
Steve: "I had to say 'You're all my hos, but I can't choose between you. So I'm taking Karl.’"

Me too.
Don't be annoyed when Ricky annoys you. It will only make him stronger.
