Was there any new material in the new show at all? I haven't really been too bothered with watching this show so far (nothing against it, I'll watch it if it's on like, but not go out of my way to see every episode), but if there's some new stuff then that'll rekindle my interest.

Little disappointed with the first half.

The bit with the clippable mat is poorly edited from a few different episodes and at one point it over laps with a bit from series 3 and 5 that makes no sense.

The first bit that they took from the series 5 intro was good, but again cut too early to make any real sense (Steve mentions the chair but they cut out the bit where they swap chair).

The movie sketch from the comic relief podcast is good though but overall Im hoping for something better.

Let's be realistic it's never gonna get better than that.
The podcasts and the xfm shows were 10 times better, but it's not a format for tv.
The problem with the animated show is that it's heavily edited to make it shorter, wich gives 20min of non stop action from karl. It's too much at once.
What was so great about the xfm shows was that the slow beats were building up the 'monkey news' or 'Rockbusters' climax.
Probably this observation has been made on the forum before, but i can't be bothered reading all the previous posts.

There is another problem i think, it's the lack of unity.
Let me try to explain.
With the podcast you had a main subject that as a good reason make karl speak.
With the xfm show you had different features of the show plus daily news as a reason to make karl speak.
With the animated version they but together bits from different shows, so you get ricky and steve pocking karl with a stick but you don't really know why the 3 of them are there together at all.

Although this was specially true for season one, i think it's still relevant.

Do you guys feel the same or am i a crazy pilkington fan ?
Maybe am not alone...

I agree. It's a bit irrational, but I don't like the idea of some committee in the USA deciding what supposedly the best bits are. You lose the small, funny moments and the build-up as you say.

I agree with you

another bit with the episode was randomly sticking in the letter from season 3 I think about Karls 3 minute wonder shows he did. Who, apart from hardcore fans, is going to understand the reference point there? he did those shows 6 years ago.

I think you people complain too much.

I loved this episode, although I was expecting that swapping chair bit, don't know why they cut that out.

Does anyone know when it's coming to Channel4?

Early May, according to Steve's Twitter.

I liked it. The animators have kicked it up a notch, I think. They added little eggs in the background that made me laugh. I wish the chair bit went on longer. I wanted to see Karl get angry with Steve/Goldilocks. The movie pitch could have been edited down. Still, I liked it.

Just watched it, liked it. Although it wasn't new material, it was stuff I haven't listened to for a while, or anywhere near as much as the earlier stuff, so it felt quite fresh. The whole movie pitch was my favourite part, regardless of Ricky/Steve's mocking, I actually think it'd have potential for a genuinely good movie (Better than any of Ricky's movies, anyway...).
