Maybe the main reason this show will suck despite Karl...and it will...is the same reason Life's Too Shit sucks:

It's motivated by a hyperactive Ricky going, "Oh, GOD! We have to do a show with x! I just think that would be so great. Can't you just...ah HA..ah HA HA HAAAAHH! OH! GOD! Steve: we HAVE to do this, mate!"...as opposed to taking situations based on their real-world experiences (i.e. The Office and Extras.)

It worked for NON-fiction - I'm of course speaking of An Idiot Abroad - but not for their fiction.

That is all. I am right. And yes, I WOULD tell Ricky this to his face. Don't care. A little bit rock & roll.
I am familiar with the works of Pablo Neruda.

And this one doesn't even have Steve, does it?

It's a shame, because you tell me you're doing a show with David Earl and Karl Pilkington, you get me incredibly fucking excited. Then you add that it mostly centres around Ricky Gervais playing a weird kid with some kind of undefined difficulties, you make me want to bang my head against a wall.
If you didn't spend so much time squeezing his head, and eating pies, we might get something done!

This is my biggest concern too...

Having said that, I'm filled with a bit more hope knowing that it's not trying to be so much of a comedy (whereas life's too short was supposed to be purely comedy)
If I was listening to me on the radio, I wouldn't be able to say, "oh, he's a...", ya know? And slag me off an' that, 'cause I don't know what I look like, and I quite like that.

Apologies for being slow but is this definitely going ahead then?

Anyone got any idea when it'll be coming out? Need to see a bit more of Karl on TV. He is a tricky one though, I'm not sure how well he would work as an actor. I know parts of Idiot Abroad were staged and possibly even scripted but it wasn't the full acting schabang. Karl's charm is natural, brutal, wit.

Still, not going to write it off before I've seen it.

Well they've done a pilot, it'll probably end up as a full series on Channel 4.

OK, reading the description of the show, it sounds much better than I thought it would. I think I'm looking forward to it. Too bad I'm nowhere near London. Steve would have fit in nicely with Derek & Dougie, I wish he had a part in this.

Gervais Inc
RiSK Productions (or is it Inc? whatever)
Backlash Productions
Derek Productions Ltd....
Is there a reason for having so many?
