Wow. You win. I mean, why have articulate responses when being snide and dull will suffice?

You will, though. Good reviews, bad reviews, it matters not a jot; I would bet good money that you'll watch Derek no matter what.

Tenner says Derek turns out to be Ricky's real life When The Whistle Blows.

I don't like it, half the time it sounds like him, just pretending to be a mental, as opposed to actually acting anything like one.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Acting is pretending. Acting is being yourself in someone else's circumstances. Do you want Ricky to go all My Left Foot?

I'm sure he'll develop Derek onto another level anyway. David Brent in the very first Office pilots wasn't very good.

I just have a gut feeling it'll be good.

Yeah, you're probably right.

And if it somehow ends up being good, I'll apologize to Anti_Nora and happily be wrong.

Until then, I'm not hoping for quality though.

I watched that Comedy Central clip just now and aye it just seems to be a bad mong impression. Cant judge it too much on a goofy TV spot though.

I still really enjoyed the original clip a lot.

I’m not sure if this has been touched upon yet, but I felt that a lot of the humor in the Derek “short” came from its being a mockumentary of those programs commonly seen on learning channel type stations. The somber music, the interviewer, the over-dramatization of Derek receiving sweatpants yet again. To me, it was making fun of how seriously those types of shows treat what in actuality are pretty trivial and/or silly subjects. It seems more promising when thought of as a mockumentary following Derek’s exodus from his grandmother’s house than it does as a regular sitcom following his madcap adventures about town as he falls about in wells and befriends a less-than-gracious Johnny Depp.

If I put on my heavily-Gervais-tinted glasses I guess I can see where you're coming from. But, for the sake of argument, if that is the case then it doesn't need to be done. Everything that needed to be said/done mockumentary-wise was perfected in The Office.

I don't want to speak too soon about something I haven't seen, but I enjoy Ricky and Steve's work for a certain reason and the premise of this show seems so far away from the kind of thing I expect from them.

I think I would take 'Brain Jail' over this.

I can't wait until he does the interviews for this. Up until now you can see him playing alone laughing etc but sometimes when the interviewer questions his motives you see the mask slip. I very much doubt he will leave many of the interviews for Derek with the mask intact!
