Please let them just do a christmas special for LTS. Letting them move on to greener pastures.

She of course loved it.

The day he called to arrange the dinner he asked me to explain the "glass is half full/half empty" metaphor.

I started by saying, "Well, if your perception is that the glass is half empty, it's meant to denote pessimism..."

Karl said, "that's not fair. If the barman brings me half a drink I'm allowed to be annoyed..."

I tried for a further 10 minutes then gave up.

Good news by the way. There will be a second An Idiot Abroad book this autumn. The first did amazingly well which helped the decision. (Still available)

Karl is going to be a very busy bee this year. We start pre-production properly this month on An Idiot Abroad 3:The Short Way Round and Karl and Warwick will be off on their adventures spring/summer.

He will also star alongside yours truly in Derek whenever I get around to it, what with the various tours I want to do over the next couple of years.

I've started kicking round ideas with Steve for another Life's Too Short on top of all this. We are thinking of going straight to the Xmas Special. Lazier and lazier. Now it's down to ONE series and a special. Ha ha.

But at least there is a third series of The Ricky Gervais Show.

That's 39 episodes! I don't think I'll ever beat that record.

BEST Birthday Cake Ever!!

ironically that show really should be put in a fucking bin

fuck it that was awful

still, if a mediocre christmas special is all it takes for them to never mention it again, bring it on

Yeah, time to move on. I'm wondering if it was mostly Steve's decision or if Ricky is finally listening to everyone.

I doubt either of them went straight for that idea, I imagine it was prompted by the studio not wanting to fund another full series.

He said on twitter that LTS was commissioned for a second series, so I doubt it was the BBC.

I'm not completely sure on this but didn't he say he was doing a second series without the BBC even having agreed to it? Seemed like maybe it was a bit of a hastily said thing to fight back at the critics and maybe save a bit of face. When Steve was interviewed he did seem much less enthusiastic and just said he was "too exhausted" etc. No real evidence that Steve's the one who decided of course, but doesn't seem such a ridiculous idea.

Yeah, he just said a second series was 'planned' for 2013 and every fucking news website in the land used that as a source to say a second series had actually been commissioned, when planned could mean nothing more than he's jotted it down in a notebook somewhere.

So glad they're ending LTS prematureley, not so glad it's with a Christmas special. It doesn't deserve one at all. The Office and Extras had the few years to get extremely popular, so they knew viewing figures would be decent, and more importantly they had a reason in the storyline to make one.

I can't see where LTS can go for simply another hour or two, without it resulting in a bunch of thrown together 'sketches' and a handful of celebrity cameos. Blah.
