I don't want to see it.

(I really just had to rid myself of the sense of extreme annoyance I was feeling from reading 'likeotherfruit' for so long as the last poster of this thread. Nothing personal, it was just getting on me nerves)
Don't do it.

I'm so bloody sick of seeing MBBB's username as the last poster in this thread.
I think the mailman thinks me dumb.

Nill Demand is so full of himself
mbbb: she has two moods-hungry and threatened
mbbb: you can determine her response based on those things

gtpod: It's like Ricky said about Steve, you just command much more respect.

Watched this again the other day. It occured to me that just because people can't lie, why would they just suddenly blurt out what they are thinking for no reason and without provocation, like they have truth tourettes or something??

Yep, I think the general agreement is the whole concept is massively flawed in that sense. It's a shame because done right, it could have been a very clever movie.

I absolutely love Karl's review and think it's one of his best little gems. "Now there's a monkey in a love with a woman. Stop it." is brilliant.

Yes I thought this was strange as well. Just because you can't lie it doesn't mean you have to say everything that is going on in your head.
But I loved this movie and I would gladly watch it over and over.

I'm sure this issue that EVERYONE has is covered in the opening voice-over by Gervais. I haven't seen it in a while so can't be sure.

maybe the writers of the film include lies of omission alongside lies of commission in their definition of "lying"?

Which is what I mentioned being mentioned in the opening narration - but I might be wrong.

If someone was wearing an awful shirt and asked, "How 's my outfit look?" and someone said, "I like those shoes." that would be a lie of omission.

If someone was wearing an awful shirt and said nothing at all and someone volunteered, "You're fat and pug-nosed and everyone hates you and wishes you'd never been born and every second that you're alive you're wasting valuable oxygen." that's Ricky Gervais' hilarious comedy"The Invention of Lying".
