Transcripts

Postby Rickydiculous » Fri 07 May, 2010 9:26 pm

Post in this thread if you are interested in working on a transcript for one of the Xfm radio shows. We are currently working our way through Series 2 and there is still plenty of work to be done. As was pointed out by a wise man:

ScottHanson wrote:Completing the transcripts makes it easier for people to find a particular show or joke or reference and also makes for clearer understanding of the often garbled language of Steve, Karl and especially Ricky.

We ask that you please follow the Transcript Style Guide that can be found here:

Here is a list of transcripts that are currently being worked on by members of the forum. This list also appears on the wiki here.

For anyone who is interested in some nice, free transcribing software that lets you slow down the audio I highly recommend Audacity.

Click Here for Free Audio Editing Software from Audacity

It also lets you bookmark parts of the audio file, which is very useful for finding your place in the audio. If you're like me and you like to transcribe one link at a time this is most helpful. It also saves your place even after closing out the program. Man, I sound like their spokesperson, but I really do find it an invaluable tool.

Yeah I'll do some.

Is there a guide to doing it? cos i don't know how.

Also, i was retarded and changed the names of all my xfm shows and now i don't have the dates.

So if i could get a date too that would be great. Then i'll just re-download it off here.

This is the style guide.
I'd recommend using the Pilkies Makin Transcript thing. It's very easy to use.

Alright then. Neil you got 03 May 2003 (the download link is available on the episode page). Link for the transcript here:

http://www.pilkipedia.co.uk/wiki/index.php?title=03_May_2003/Transcript

And Boxergirl you got 10 May 2003. Link here:

http://www.pilkipedia.co.uk/wiki/index.php?title=10_May_2003/Transcript

Unfortunately Bret's transcript program doesn't work on Macs so me and Neil are out of luck on that one.

Looks perfect, BG. Nice work. I'll reassign Hanson's to you then (that lazy fff... hasn't been doing anything with it after all).

Wow BG, that's awesome, nice work.

Thanks to everyone else who's picked up a transcription too. :D The day we finish these will be a great one.

What's the deal with transcribing the audiobooks? Is that illegal?

That will be an awesome day when they are all complete.

We deemed it illegal. But really, who'd want a transcript of those anyway, money for old rope.

Although what we could do is much more detailed episode pages for audiobooks with plenty of quotes to make it easier to find bits.

I would do anything to get a transcript generator for mac, i wonder if there are any software nerds on here that would be kind enough to knock something up.

If not i might just buy parallels just to use pilki's makin transcripts.
