Most beautiful song?

Postby Flying Pelican » Fri 27 Mar, 2009 12:34 pm

I'm just wondering what you people think is the most beautiful song you've ever heard. Or one that you heard recently.

I nominate Brian Eno - By This River <3

I think Hurt by Johnny Cash is quite touching, especially considering he knew he was dying at the time, and I'm pretty sure that recording the video for the song was the last thing he did before he died. (I actually prefer it to the NIN original, to be honest)

Tom Mcrae - Walking 2 Hawaii

The use of the '2' in the title annoys me though. I'm sure theres a proper reason for him using it, he seems like one of those people who'd put proper thought into something like that. But to most people, it'll just look like text speak me thinks.

It was a brilliant cover, although I do still prefer the NIN version. Though I prefer him changing the line to "I wear this crown of thorns."

I hadn't heard of Mcrae until now, and I must say I really like this song. I'll have to check out more of his stuff...

Neutral Milk Hotel..a few of their songs I could see being classed as "beautiful". Two Headed Boy Part II probably the most though.

Thomas Newman - Most of his soundtracks but i guess Shawshank Redemption and Little Children are my faves.
Clint Mansell - Dead Reckoning (smokin' Aces soundtrack)/also Solaris soundtrack
Hooverphonic - Tuna
Matthew Jay - Let your Shoulder fall (kinda the same reason as Hurt by JC as he commited suicide soon after recording it)
U2 - All i want is you (not 'cool' but still i likes it) Oh and the vid has a midget in it.
BITB 3:16 "Castor was faster than the average pastor, his church skills were thrilling and he was high on the billing...."
LP... "he's a scruffy ethnic "

Motion Picture Soundtrack by Radiohead. The harps get me everytime, and the lyrics are stunning, ending with "I will see you in the next life". I love it.
...Yay! It's Warwick Davis in a bucket!

Well it's all subjective innit. I'll go for "Still Alive" at the end of Portal.
