i'm not overly keen......you dont need to play karl for laughs...it'd be much funnier if the program took him seriously...

it'd be much funnier if you watched the advertised presenter karl because then the subversion of it occurrs...watching the advertised idiot karl....there's nowhere to go from there....i worry if that's reflective of the the of the thing as a whole....cos it could be much more funnier/interesting/worthwhile than that

I read almost all of Chinch's post, which is pretty good going for me, and I personally believe he is correct.

I wasn't too keen on the name but couldn't quite place why; I reckon chinch is right on the money there. It'd be like calling Big Brother "Morons in a House" or Come Dine With Me "People Trying Their Hardest to Act Middle Class On TV". It may be accurate but it's too opaque.

I think you're over-complicating it, there's no subtlety to this, there never was going to be. Karl's established role is an idiot for us to laugh at, that's all this was supposed to be "karl pilkington is an idiot; Holiday Special". Expecting anything else was and is pure self-delusion.

His established role to us, yes. But not to the general public. Although, to be honest, I don't know who this is aimed at. Can't just be people familiar with Karl, that's not many people.
