Ugh, the DVD has no extra features worth noting. The preview episode, deleted scenes, and something else that wasn't impressive. What a let down.

So, my suggestion to Sky for Series Two:

Karl Pilkington's Seven Continents
(a.k.a. "An Idiot Abounds" or watev)

in which Karl Pilkington, the world's favo(u)rite Orange-Headed Manc Anti-Socialist, is sent to each continent to experience people, places, and things he generally doesn't like.

    The Focus:
  • Europe: KP goes to Eastern Bloc nations and has to overcome language barriers and so on as he discovers that people are all the same: they all think foreigners are weird and a little annoying.
  • Africa: KP is sent to Nigeria, at first in one of those little towns that still blast Fela Kuti music 24/7 and have intermittent electricity, then to Lagos where he still can't get any sleep.
  • Asia: Here, KP goes to Indonesia, Singapore, Hong Kong. Make him deal with the crazy bastion of capitalism that is Hong Kong, then take him to one of them places where they wave their knobs at you when they want you to go away.
  • Australia: Well, he wrote in his book that he'd never been. Now he'll have to. Just listening to The Squozen One rant about spiders that wait at the bottoms of pools and so on oughta provide a good 44 minutes of television.
  • North America: The K-Man has been to America several times, so I don't know if it's best to have him deal with Americana (like the Midwest), or L.A., or to send him somewhere he should appreciate but won't, like Montreal. Someone else can decide. It's not my show.
  • South America: I like the idea of KP looking for the places different parts of Che Guevara are buried, but I really think it would be funniest to send him to Argentina. I don't know why.

    and the last one...

  • Antarctica: KP accompanies a team of scientists to the Antarctic coast, where he constantly wonders how he got talked into this while the scientists try to show him how to do genuinely useful stuff. Could have an environmental theme.

This.

I work for people on the Antarctica. I can help with that. By the way, it´s an amazing place.
And Argentina... well, here never was a head like a fucking orange.

Will there be a bit in every episode where he stays in a shit hotel and has to eat something unusual?

Sometimes - but I like the idea of making him stay WITH "regular people" as much as possible (except the Antarctic - I'd defer to Paute on that one.) Like have him stay with a farming family in Riga, or a trucker's family in Perth, etc.

As for eating unusual stuff, I think it's better if he has to help people cook regular stuff in an unusual way. I'm just picturing his look of horror as he helps cook sausages - after he's seen how it's actually made. Stuff like that.

I'll try to get all the scripts written and mailed out to Graham this week.

Got the DVD yesterday, watching 'Mexico' right now. Of course I bought it on Karl's advice to get off my arse and go to the shops.
It's great, this is only the second time watching these episodes so there's a lot I'm noticing for the first time. And I agree on the special features, very disappointing- but I guess the last episode was only on last Thursday so it's a bit of a rushed release.
Don't see the point in the preview show being included, it's better to watch the whole series.
Ricky also annoys me quite a lot in it, especially the "At least you're on Sky one!" *High fives Steve and laughs* and how he looks at the screen when Karl's talking about Wales like he's mental.

Having said that, it's great to relive the series with no ad breaks- they seemed to come round so quick during the original airings. It's also nice having the deleted scenes, some of them are stand out and should have been included. The best part is being able to watch this with mates who don't have Sky but love Karl- they missed every episode so Friday night I'm gonna grab some beers and have a little Pilkoid gathering.

Show- 4.5/5 DVD-3/5.

I don't understand why there's no episode commentary from Ricky, Steve and Karl. It seemed like the most obvious extra. That would have been probably worth getting the DVD for ahead of the actual show itself.

If there is going to be a Season 2, it really should be in the format that the season finale used.

Go back and forth between Karl on the road, and the three of them in studio talking about what they've just watched.

It's much more interesting than watching Karl bitch and moan for 40 minutes.
