Funny how they aren't making a big deal out of the only good actor there Robert de Niro pissing himself laughing.

I'm glad Ricky made a mockery of it,it made me proud to British, they go on like they are accepting the Nobel peace prize and have cured cancer or something,I'm convinced Tom hanks actually thinks he fought in world war two.

Does Tim Allen know how mean Ricky's comedy could be? What a weak response from a former stand up comedian to Ricky's insult. It's about time Allen and Bruce Willis got knocked for their huge egos, and why so much respect from Hollywood for Robert Downey Jr? Who gives a damn.
I think he was pretty funny hosting but purposely went over the top because he doesn't need to host the Golden Globes, so he isn't bothered if they never ask him again. The insult about helping the old man off the toilet and his teeth was insane. He really pushed his buttons, and the old fella sounded like your usual "I'm your boss, you can't say that!" afterwards when he threatened to refuse any of Gervais future projects for award considerations.
Only Hollywood royalty like Deniro are forgiven for bad taste jokes. And after last night's awards I will forgive Deniro for his pitiful apearance on SNL, because his acceptance speech was better than that entire SNL show.

The jokes about the Tourist were solid as well.

So Ricky can dish it out, but everyone's forbidden from giving it back to him? I don't see how Tom Hanks' comment about Ricky was any more acerbic than Ricky's material. In fact, less so.

They were actually upset by it,they didnt guve banter back,it's the way they think they are supposed to held up in great respect for being fucking actors,I love the way Ricky ruined the usual self important love in via abusive jokes.

How did they give it back to him? All either of them did was literally say he was too mean. That was it.
I was thinking someone might have come out and said 'Ricky Gervais, now an insult comedian it seems, we've had everything bar aids jokes. 'pause' He has lost a lot of weight lately.'
I dunno what that's got to do with anything, thought it would've been a good joke.

I don't think he killed it, he had some good jokes but he had more lazy 'robert downey jr rehab' things but, I don't know, awards shows eh, load of balls anyway. At least it was interesting to see if buzz lightyear was actually gonna lamp him one.
No great life story, or love interest, just a dead egg.

If you were just hoping for aspects of it to be ruined, I guess I can't argue with you. I know what you're saying, but I suspect the reason they didn't give it back as much is because it's not really the forum to **** all over everyone else's work. Quite the opposite, the Golden Globes are one of the understood events where they're given respect for being good actors. No one really goes in expecting to to have to defend their own efforts and personal lives. I understand Ricky's intent to take them down a few pegs with humo(u)r, but I think a lot of people showed class by handling it the way they did. They could just have easily brought up how mediocre Ricky's films are, but they didn't. This is an event where actors congratulate each other and kiss each other's asses. That's given. As stupid as it sounds, I think it would be rude to do too much to the contrary.

I haven't seen the performance itself but I had a little read of the "more abusive" jokes the BBC story listed.

What is wrong with people, they weren't even that abusive for the most part. I think Harvey Weinstein's comments in particular were out of order.

Ok fair enough, I suppose most didn't, but I thought Tom Hanks' remark was really funny; a very good joke. I absolutely love Ricky, but to be fair if he was going to call out everyone else, I don't think his own work, or in this case, judgment should be off limits either.

Your joke would have been good.

Ha, ta.

There's some quote by a hollywood foreign press member that's been linked everywhere
“Ricky will not be invited back to host the show next year, for sure. For sure any movie he makes he can forget about getting nominated. He humiliated the organization last night and went too far with several celebrities whose representatives have already called to complain.”

But it's anonymous and the original source is some shit little gossip website. http://www.popeater.com/2011/01/17/ricky-gervais-banned-golden-globes/

I've only seen the monologue so far.

The finale of "Lost" was "I'm pretty sure the fat one ate them all." Not quite "topflight comedy" in the usual sense.

Before the show he was talking a lot about how he was going to go so far that he'd never be invited back. I guess I can't blame him for keeping his word.

I haven't seen the show but I'm pretty sure Tim Allen and the like were joking back.

It seems pretty obvious to be honest.

The stars who actually cared wouldn't say so. Their publicists would send a story to OK magazine saying how much "they loved it".

You mouth off about totally understanding the humour and that not being the issue, yet you apparently couldn't figure out the Tom Cruise joke wasn't actually about Scientology at all? Hm.

EDIT: Nor did you apparently notice the simulation was a hand-job, not fellatio. You're not doing too well so far.
