I don't think it has a backstory.
Don't be annoyed when Ricky annoys you. It will only make him stronger.

Yeah, just a bolt from the blue of Karl's Manchester days.
"Do you want a sandwich? Here's a sandwich". And then next year "Can I have a sandwich?" "What happened to your brother?" "He died."

Well the little bit of back story I'm aware of is that somebody recently Tweeted it to Ricky, saying that they'd applied for a job working on Karl's radio show back in 1994 and received this letter in response.

Ahhh I see thanks. Thought the Steve in question was Steve Merchant and was really confused.

I've never seen this before, so don't know if it's ever been posted - But could this be the "Knob grown on man's arm" that Karl was talking about?

(NSFW.... Obviously)

I may have found a clip of the woman who debates Karl on whether we need cockroaches. Or at least she sounds a lot like her and doesn't take other people's nonsense.

I do agree with Trish Divine's idea we need a name for people who don't believe in the Loch Ness Monster though. Can I suggest aNessies?

I don't think I've heard Stephen talk about this. Just watched the video, what's the deal with it? That he doesn't praise his dance partner? I don't know who anyone of those people are (except for Smerch in the background! ^_^)
