Karl Drunk or Drugs?

I've listened to all of the podcasts and "Guides to...", and now I'm making my way through the XFM shows. I know that Karl has a beers at the pub, but I'm curious if there has even been mention of Karl being drunk, or if he has ever tried any drugs, even if it's only cannabis. I can't imagine it.

He references on a number of occasions how he "could have gone down that route". But it's almost definite that he hasn't done any form of drugs ever and never been drunk for the shows.

There is a hint of him possible being drunk at Ricky's place once what with the Egg story, where Ricky says they all got up dancing and Karl was doing some sort of breakdancing, given that his attitude to public display in AIA I imagine he'd had a drink.

I think they mention that he's scared of drugs, so I'm guessing he's never been into that sort of thing.

Karl once ate a load of chocolates at pub that turned out to have cannabis in them. I can't remember when he told that story, I think it's in Happyslapped by a jelly fish.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Manchester fucking full to brim with drugs in the 80s? Especially in the estates and rough areas I imagine.

That's probably what he meant when he said he could've easily gone down that route, but he was probably a levelheaded enough lad to notice what it did to people and decided he didn't want anything to do with it.
