I'm certain I'm missing the point here but isn't Karl's "acting" not really a material concern? He's been recruited for a dopey, fed up northerner who likes to moan and be gormless, because few people could nail that the way he could. I'm stating the fucking obvious here so I've definitely just missed the point.

No I agree; he can only play himself, doesn't mean we don't want to see more of himself though.

Ok, don't mean to be a dick here - which obviously means I am being - but how can you conclude he can only play himself? This is my whole point. Not that Karl is a bad actor, can only play himself - get over it everyone. But that Karl hasn't been required to act, and probably has no interest in doing so. Maybe he'd be great as a neurotic, charming romantic lead, or a superhero. But he'd be wasted in those parts, as anyone else would be wasted in the kinds of parts only he could play. It's not a case of a lack of ability is it? Again I apologise, but I feel like even the defence of Karl in this is coming from the wrong place. In a way.

I meant it in the tone like Ricky's about Karl's fables: "I could change it to fridges and household appliances". A tone like that. I didn't mean it literally and oh for fucks sake I can't be arsed.

Hmm, just watched the trailers properly and it does seem better than LTS. But I'm not sure about Ricky's part, mainly because it looks like he's gurning.

Not sure why it bothers me. Maybe it's the whole 'oh look at his funny face, he must be special' thing.
