Ricky on Opie & Anthony 13/04/2012

Postby Steven » Fri 13 Apr, 2012 2:20 am

Ricky Gervais will be on The Opie & Anthony Show on 13th April, so if you have SiriusXM you can listen to it live between 6am-10am on XM 105 or Sirius 206.

I'll be downloading the show after it's aired to isolate Ricky's bits and upload it to YouTube if you don't happen to have SiriusXM, but just a heads up if you do.

Frunnnkis!

Since Ricky first appeared on their show, they properly slagged him off for not returning their calls once he got too big. I'm sure they will address this on the show though, they're not ones to act hypocritically without apologising for it.
M: I really think Chris is what makes the Baby Jesus cry.
B: Seriously. He's taking the room in the inn, and Jesus has to be out in a manger.
M: WHY ARE YOU SO MEAN TO JESUS?! HE'S A BABY!

Someone else mentioned that, Pod. Maybe it was you. What exactly did they say about him?

And yeah, I love them for that.

Religion come up a little too much in that interview
Hobby Horse

There was an adequate amount of transsexual conversation though

Sorry to hear that.

Really? They play his award speeches on their show and laugh at Ricky's funnyness. Must have just been one time, it's what always happens usually: someone gets too big and don't appear on the show again because it's bad for their image. Ricky doesn't care about that so must have been a misunderstanding.

I'm cutting up the show now, then YouTubing it. Won't be long.

Okay, just listened to it and here's my thoughts. Turned into a rundown of sorts.

[Reveal] Spoiler:
It was good, Ricky was funny. Comedians play off well with O&A, shame Jimmy wasn't there. A little bit of religion talk which prompts someone to call in, but that doesn't last long then lots of talk about Karl starts and everyone's a fan of him - he was there plugging The Ricky Gervais show so everyone was enjoying Karl stories. The inevitable 'Ricky used to be fat' conversation starts, which moves onto future projects and stuff. Derek is mentioned, elderly discussion entails. That 'Afterlife' show is brought up, didn't know that was still happening. Ricky gets asked a question about a transsexual, he should'a called Karl and asked him on air - he needs to go on O&A sometime. Lots of transsexual talk actually, Jimmy would'a loved that discussion subject, that lil' transsexual lover. Ricky tends to steer clear of sexual talk so it was odd to hear him in a conversation about accepting a load in the mouth from a transsexual. It ended with a lot of dick talk and sexual questions, Joe DeRosa brought in the funnies in Jimmy's absence. Louie C.K talk and his Twitter is bashed for just plugging, in a loving way of course. Ricky says he may appear in Louie again. The guys thank him for going on the show again, so any bad ground seems to be forgotten like I thought it had. But yeah, a funny appearance, he seems to be comfortable around them all. Again, he should bring Karl in one day or at least make him call in.

As a casual Brit fan of O&A I was guttered Jim wasn't there, Jim Norton is by far the funniest guy there, Ricky was decent though.

Nice little rundown Steven, agreed on all counts there.

Definitely the best interview I've heard with him in a long time. It helps that it's Opie and Anthony though, best interviews around I would say.

I highly recommend the one with Malcolm McDowell.
