I was just thinking you meant his later albums, which I was surprised about since I think those are some of his best. I didn't know you meant after the mid 90s you became a fan again.

Yeah. Together Through Life was mediocre but Modern Times, Love and Theft and Time Out of Mind were great.

I guess I don't love it but I definitely enjoy it! Believe it or not.

Anyways this thread has taken a strange turn... let's get back to complaining! :)

Karl: Sounds mad, dunnit.

I think Ricky is beaten too much for writing what he want. And also that is the reason what I stand for this forum, that each one thinks and write he/she wants.

Forums are very organic, living things. You have to be involved in one for several months before you get an idea of the general flow of threads and the characters within them. Is so easy to judge a forum by a once-in-a-blue-moon visit that a lot of things can be misunderstood or taken out of context.

I suspect guys like Ricky rarely visit or partake in forum culture so he's probably too fast to judge the kind of characters that frequent them.

So to some degree you could forgive his ignorance even if it come across as somewhat rude because unless he signed up and posted secretly for 12 months he just wouldn't know jack.

He is right of course to be bemused how people can dissect his work and become very personal, but this is forums, this is what humans do on a day to day basis, but unlike real life everyone's views are made public.

It amuses me that Ricky makes out like this is such a bad thing. If an artist (And I'm using the term "artist" in the loosest sense, covering any media; painter, builder, chef, musician, director, etc.) creates something, and has put the time and effort in to giving that project so much attention to detail, surely the fact that others are then going to the trouble of dissecting it and reviewing it is a good thing, rather than just looking at it on face value and making a passing judgement of it like any casual viewer.

CantSayBien wrote:^ Bet you wouldn't be saying that if their previous work didn't exist.

Seriously, have you seen some of the latest American shitcoms? Gary Unmarried and Mike & Molly come to mind but I'm sure it gets much worse than that.

I'm with half-biscuit, when the show was airing I got pretty sick of reading all the "omg worst show ever" remarks. I wasn't particularly a fan but I liked parts of it.

I believe 'Work It' is the ideal example you are looking for.

Just read all of this thread. Lots of good posts.

Standard defensive Ricky antics here, can't hack people who don't have their noses up his arse. Don't take it personal lads.

Love karl, love ricky there an amazing combination.
Why do people slag ricky of, when it was basically his ideas to make the shows you ' love so much'?
The thing is people speak there mind on hear and rarely get slagged of
But then ricky does it or says something partly out of line and BOOM its a slagging match against him.

If I was listening to me on the radio, I wouldn't be able to say, "oh, he's a...", ya know? And slag me off an' that, 'cause I don't know what I look like, and I quite like that.

Your writing makes it clear that English is not your first language and I think that's why you haven't really understood the thread (if in fact you have read it).

As has been mentioned, most members of this forum don't agree that just because we love his work means that we have to love everything about him. Loving Extras and the XFM shows and hating the way he conducts himself on Twitter are not mutually exclusive.
