I saw it, really glad they used the chair bit.
My main problem is that I'm my own worst enemy. I know the podcasts so well that it's impossible to block out the audio which follows in my head, making it extremely noticeable to hear which parts are cut/edited. I'll always think, "Oh there's a great bit coming up" and then it isn't used.
I was disappointed by the film idea taking up more than half of the episode though. It's no 'Love of 2 brains' is it? I'm a moany bastard, but I hope next weeks is a bit better with maybe some new material.

I really liked the added sound effects when Ricky and Steve keep interrupting Karl The clinking tea cups and intercom clicks are a nice touch.

Just realised this episode marks a milestone in the history of Gervais/Merchant in that it's the start of the first ever "Series 3" of anything made on TV. Which is nice.

Enjoyed this one a lot more than the first. Lots of neat details, good balance of Karl and Steve bits. Nice, fast pace and lots of call-backs. Probably my favourite episode yet.

brilliant. but I doubt they'll release the podcast version if it was meant for the armed forces originally.

I don't know about this animated stuff. I can't make up my mind if it's any good or not. I think that it is geared toward an American audience weened on distractions, meaningless bullshit, and what zany characters are getting up to. Which is what I find myself doing; following the narrative of the cartoons rather than the dialogue. When I watch it, I miss the whole point of those XFM/podcast conversations and I probably don't even notice the fact they are slicing up a whole load of different conversations to fit the animation. It's just a distraction to me, so I minimize VLC and listen to the audio. Then I realize how stupid that is, so I close it and listen to my XFM collection instead.

Also, I am beginning to suspect some interesting stuff going on behind the scenes. You notice that there is a lot more Steve stuff in series 3 so far? That together with a conspicuous absence of Merchentness in the credits of Gervais productions these days.

HOW CAN YOU READ WHAT ISN'T THERE, EH?

I notice the animation provides 1.5 extra laugh per episode, compared to just listening to the exact same audio.
