Finally found the Pilot via YouTube.
Why is this a comedy? Feels more like slice of life story; or perhaps 'dramedy' or seriocomedy? Well, it certainly isn't a light-hearted comedy...but I liked it.

My younger sister was mentally retarded; although now she'd be labeled mentally disabled. She was totally in her own world, and eventually was moved into a state developmental center until she passed away.

Long story short, Ricky is spot-on with his creation of Derek. I saw so many "Dereks" at this facility during all the years my sis was there. I wonder how long Ricky studied other handicapped people to get this character down pat?

Glad I finally got to see the entire pilot. Previously, I had only seen clips and not being able to put the entire show into perspective, I didn't like it. Now that I can see everything in context, I love it & can hope and pray someone in the USA also airs it soon.

Just needs more cowbell Steve.

I think Ricky himself said it was closer to drama than comedy
If I was listening to me on the radio, I wouldn't be able to say, "oh, he's a...", ya know? And slag me off an' that, 'cause I don't know what I look like, and I quite like that.

I am getting pretty excited for this. It looks good and I really enjoyed the pilot. I think the Twitter frustration has clouded a lot of the hype.

Imagine if someone had shown us the above picture a few years ago and explained its context. We would be going mental. Can't wait!
Don't do it.

I'm still excited for Derek. Gervais is Gervais, I can still watch a character he's playing, and I like the characters in the pilot. These pictures look nice, I indeed look forward to this.

Not getting too excited just yet, since it's not out for ages

Very true. Tbh I wasn't a massive fan of the pilot, but with Karl in these kind of situations, it's definitely got potential.

Also, nice to see a bit of positivity about a project. Refreshing.

Oh you know, Idiot Abroad, Derek, Learn English with Ricky Gervais, Steve's standup.

We bloody hate all of em.

I agree. It's not like we've ever been positive about The Office, Extras, Cemetery Junction, An Idiot Abroad, the XFM shows, the Podcasts, the Guide To series, or the animated Ricky Gervais Show.

Finally, something we like!
