Dice portrait of Karl - 12,000 die (dice)

Postby DannyLee » Thu 12 Jul, 2012 5:35 pm

Evenin' all,

I've been a backseat fan of RSK for ages and ages, but never felt the need to collude with fellow fans on the net - until now.

Now that I actually have a piece of fan work to present you all, I've joined up and opened my super duper account.

Here's my recently finished project; building a large mosaic of KP using real die, which can then be hung and moved about as one piece. It turned out quite well, and I am THINKING about making Steve and Ricky to go with it as a 3-piece installation. Karl took about 2 months to do because I was feeling my way through the project as I went along, what stuff to use, how to do it etc. but I reckon I could probably complete the other two within about 6 weeks odd. Karl is currently sitting on the wall above our dinner table while I let him sit for a month to make sure the whole construction can survive 'daily life' in a home. It's much less fragile than I feared, and you can run your hand over the surface of it and feel all those orgasmic die on your fingertips, like that Salad Fingers fella. 12,000 real die, could happily have ended up in anyone's travel monopoly before being used on KP. After I'm happy that it's a good complete package I will probably see if there's any interest in them for me to sell them on. It would be nice to recoup £150 of die per portrait - mum n' dad thought I was mental.

This style of 'art' if you can call it that, I've coined the term 'Dicetrait', can be learned about at the website my mate helped build up for me - http://www.dicetraits.com - All about how it was made, what it involed, a little bit about myself aswell because I'm so interestin'.

Cheers to all, and thanks for looking.

That's bloody impressive that.
"Do you want a sandwich? Here's a sandwich". And then next year "Can I have a sandwich?" "What happened to your brother?" "He died."

Great stuff, I do love seeing the creativity on here.
Everyone is saying "Gabbo this" and "Gabbo that". But no one is saying "Worship this" and "Jericho that"!

Love the use of a different medium - and obviously major props on the quality of the work itself. Mad respect, DannyLee!

You must have an awful lot of patience. Would love to see the other two if you decide to make them!

That's just to die for. (y'know, 'cus die is the singular of dice an' that)

Amazing work. Do you have social networky-bobs for your art that we can promote? Twitter, facebook etc?
