In 2002 Gervais and Merchant were photgraphed for promotional material. Pilkington however opted out of doing this. He felt that people seeing how he looked was bad for two reasons. Firstly he said the listeners do not need to know, secondly he said it would ruin the mystique. So Gervais felt he needed to create a mental image and amongst the many characters named, he said Charlie Brown was perfact due to the shirt he was wearing.
