Clive Owen (born 3 October 1964) is an Academy Award nominated, and Golden Globe and BAFTA-award winning English actor.

Career

Owen got his start in television in a BBC television production of Precious Bane and the Channel 4 film Vroom and a lead role in the ITV series Chancer followed by an appearance in the Thames Television production of Lorna Doone. He then moved on to film roles, appearing in several British productions before his first Hollywood film, The Rich Man's Wife alongside Halle Berry. He has also been in Robert Altman's Gosford Park, The Bourne Identity, Closer, which earned him a Golden Globe and BAFTA award and an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor. He also appeared in Derailed, Sin City, Inside Man, Children of Men, Shoot 'Em Up, and Elizabeth: The Golden Age.

Clive Warren

On the Fame Souvenir Program Podcast Karl Pilkington pitches his idea for a film about a love of two brains. The actors he thought should star in his film were Rebecca De Mornay and Clive Warren. It is assumed he meant Clive Owen but he got the name wrong. Nevertheless, Ricky still questioned Karl by saying "Who the fuck's Clive Warren?!"

Extras

Owen appeared as himself in the Extras Christmas Special, written and directed by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant. His character was starring in the sequel to the film Byron with Andy's nemesis, Greg. Maggie appeared as an extra in the film but eventually quit because she refused to degrade herself in a scene with Owen. Like most other guest stars, Owen played a twisted version of himself; he insisted that the scene be changed because Maggie was not attractive enough to portray his prostitute.

Quotes

  • Clive Owen: I’m not very happy with this… No I mean this one being the prostitute. I wouldn’t pay for that.
  • Clive Owen: Well I’m telling you if I just slept with that, I wouldn’t throw the food on the floor I’d throw it in her face.
Woman: Ok what food would you throw cause I can get props on to that?
Clive Owen: Well I think it should be like some kind of gruel as if I found some oats on the stable floor. Just mix it with some shit and like, wet cabbage. What would be great is when it plaps into her face it just sort of looks like a rancid cow pie.
  • Clive Owen: Oh fuck off, I’m Clive Owen that’s mental!
