Merchant Gets Revenge
06 September 2007
Steve Merchant stunned the audience at the GQ Awards (more above) when he kept Elton John waiting on stage while the Office co-writer finished his dessert and sipped his drink. This comes as revenge for the Princess Diana concert, in which John complaining of "technical difficulties" and left Merchant's colleague Ricky Gervais alone on stage for a full 15 mins. Merchant received some cheers and some boos for his actions, which John's spokesperson insisted were "tongue in cheek". Merchant defended his actions by claiming John was "not the f****** Queen".
