Warwick Ashley Davis (born 3 February 1970) is a British actor. He is noted for his dwarfism, standing at 3 ft 6 in (1.07 m) tall. Warwick has collaborated on various projects alongside Ricky Gervais, starring in Life's Too Short and joining Karl Pilkington on his travels for Series 3 of An Idiot Abroad. He was also the subject of Karl's fascination in The Podfather Trilogy podcasts, where Karl referred to him as Warren.

Career

Davis is best known as the title character in Willow and the Leprechaun series of films; other prominent roles include Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, Professor Filius Flitwick in the Harry Potter movies, Marvin the Paranoid Android in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, and Reepicheep in the BBC television versions of Prince Caspian, Voyage of the Dawn Treader and as Mr Glimfeather the owl in The Silver Chair. He is also featured in another Narnia-related film production: the 2008 film adaptation of The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, as the dwarf Nikabrik.

Extras

Davis played himself in the third episode of the second series of Extras written and directed by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant. In the episode, Warwick is shooting a film alongside Daniel Radcliffe and Andy Millman. When Andy muses to his friend Maggie Jacobs that Warwick's fiancee would probably have fallen for him were she not already tied up, the claim finds its way to Warwick who confronts Andy. Warwick begins lashing out at Andy, and in an attempt to avoid the conflict Andy inadvertently kicks the dwarf in the face.

Life's Too Short

In 2011 Warwick starred in "Life's Too Short" written and directed by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant. According to Gervais, the idea for the show was sparked when Warwick made his appearance on Extras, and the two started talking about some of the tribulations suffered by dwarves. Gervais' was full of praise for Warwick's performance in the series, comparing him to Charlie Chaplin in terms of his physical comedy. Despite this, critical reception for the series was fairly negative.

Twitter

Warwick has a verified Twitter account (@WarwickADavis) and recently got into trouble for using the word 'mong' to describe one of Gervais' grotesque picture uploads. He was pulled up on the use of the term by a number of followers and he immediately apologised for any offence caused. This in turn got him in trouble with Gervais who admonished him for apologising for 'expressing himself'.
