David Earl is a comedian and actor who primarily works on the comedy circuit performing his character Brian Gittins. He has also been involved in a number of Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant projects.

With Ricky and Steve

David Earl has been utilised by Gervais and Merchant on a few occasions. His first appearance in one of their projects was as an obsessive fan in the David Bowie episode of Extras. He was also briefly in Cemetery Junction, playing porn-addict Brian.

Earl's most significant role in Gervais' work was his role as Kev in Derek. Kev, a grotty sex-obsessed alcoholic, was one of the four major characters in the series.

Other Appearances

David Earl tours the comedy circuit with his on-stage persona Brian Gittins. In 2012, a 30-minute pilot centering around the character was broadcast by Channel 4, in a series titled 4Funnies. Earl has also had other minor roles in British television.
